Hey Everyone! *Updated May 3/2010
With a little over 117 days left before Ironman Canada, I’ve seen a lot of people starting to “wake up” to the fact that in a little less 6 months, you’re gonna be doing this little thing called Ironman – maybe it’s time to start training
Ok, well I hope that’s not the case, but one common question I’ve seen popping up is… Continue reading Ironman Bike Course Elevation | 1 Comment

There is only one thing can think of that’s worse than training the same way, year after year. That would be doing the same training over and over again…but hoping for different results.
Sounds simple enough, I know, yet tens of thousands of triathlete are guilty. When things don’t go right on race day, the typical answer is “train more.” But at some point “more” becomes impossible. Maybe you… Continue reading Train Different For Better Results

In Part I we introduced you to the Five Keys, and discussed one through four. In Part II we discussed Key 5, lactate threshold training. Finally, in Part III, we summarize how the “TeamEN Way” is different from how you’ve probably been accustomed to thinking about long course triathlon training.
Let’s start by reviewing perhaps the foundation of all endurance training: Progressive… Continue reading Five Keys of Long Course Training, Part III: TeamEN vs Traditional Approaches

… well DUH.
but to elaborate on that – a SPECIFIC kind of work works. What the hell does that mean? Ok, up in here in Vancouver, it’s not exactly “ideal” weather to be riding outside (albeit it’s been one of the best winters I can recall in terms of lack of precipitation) so most of us have been relegated to sitting on a trainer from November to March. … Continue reading Work...Apparently WORKS. | 3 Comments

Over the past year, Team EN has shared many articles and great tips on training and racing Ironman triathlon, the very same guidance that their 400+ members have used for 200 Ironman finishes, with several age group podiums and wins. They are now transitioning the Team into the OffSeason, the most powerful time of our athletic year, and it’s time to outline exactly… Continue reading Rethinking the Triathlon "OutSeason"

Ok, so this is going to be one of the more random posts I’ll make, but I was watching Mythbusters just now and one of the experiments they did was the effects of stress on fuel consumption. WHAT? Basically, they were comparing how you would drive your car in a “happy / relaxed” mood vs a “stressed / pissed off” mood – and how that would affect how much… Continue reading Racing Or Training While Stressed...

…sour race marshall to ruin your race.
I was kind of irked today when reading about Pro Triathlete Gina Kehr’s experience at Kona this past weekend. She received 4 penalties during the race – FOUR freaking penalties during the World Championships!! Either the race referee forgot to wear her glasses, or she was on crack when marshalling the bike course as ANY rational triathlete knows that getting penalized… Continue reading It Just Takes one...

Work WORKS
You have a secret. You love your job, the experience, your co-workers, etc., but you know you can get it all done in six hours a day. Or three. Problem is, The Man won’t let you. You gotta punch the clock, have to show up between 9-5, do the commute thing, etc.
Unfortunately for you, your boss isn’t… Continue reading Work (when training) actually WORKS
