I recently saw advice on a triathlon forum to develop/improve the propulsiveness of the kick to become a faster swimmer.
As a triathlon coach coaching triathletes, 95% of whom are not former competitive swimmers, are swimming 2100-4200yds in a race (much, much farther than your typical competitive swimming event) in a wetsuit that adds a lot of buoyancy to their legs and who have to bike and run a long distance… Continue reading Endurance Nation - The Kick in Triathlon Swimming

What type of bike do I need for a Triathlon?
Can I buy a high end road bike and clip on aero bars or do I need a dedicated Tri bike? I am a relative newcomer but am looking to work up to an Ironman distance within the next year.

* Sprint or Olympic – triathletes swim ½ mile
* International… Continue reading Ironman Triathlon Training

It is pretty obvious to the triathlon community that triathlon wetsuits are not all created equal.
At the same time, it often feels like we have taken the importance of exactly how a triathlon wetsuit is actually constructed a bit too seriously. After all, when it comes right down to it, is really necessary to get excited about a wetsuit because it is… Continue reading Beginner Triathlete - Novice Ironman and the Importance of Wetsuits - Warmer, Lighter Or Faster?

For a plan to become feasible, it must be definitely defined and the time table must be properly set, that way, the trainee will be able to adjust well on the transitions of each training modes.
The Training The onset of the training for a triathlon must be set months or even a year before the actual race. It would be good to lay… Continue reading Knowing Your Triathlon Training Schedule

Runners: what's the best way to deal with an ankle injury during training? (triathlon training)?
Since your training for a triathlon (KUDOS to YOU) I would not run for a week and while your swimming, take some time out and pool run. This will help you to maintain your training. Put in some extra cycling. You will be just fine. ICE your ankles for… Continue reading Runners: what's the best way to deal with an ankle injury during training? (triathlon training)?

Anyone know about triathlon training for teens?
I'm 14 and I'm quite interesting it taking part in a triathlon. I know i need to train, but i have no idea where to start. I did google it but it wasn't really much help. I live in London, so local places would be ideal, or links to websites. Thanks

I’m not big on triathletes and learned-to-swim-as-adult swimmers using paddles. I think it’s another symptom of the gear-queer mentality of triathletes: buying any tools you think you need vs learning the basics first and asking advice from smart people .
Paddles are made for guys like (the old, young, competitive swimmer) me: back in the day, the ability to put power to the water (vs technique, which was good)… Continue reading Endurance Nation - Thoughts on Swim Paddles
