ITU Anti-Doping Updates

Ok for all you folks out there sucking back the EPO and whatever else you’re taking ūüėȬ† ha… just kidding.¬† With the plague of doping in the peloton over the last few years, it’s good to see the powers that be are cracking down harder and harder to keep our sport clean.¬†¬† However, some people have been “accused” of doping because some random ingredient in their nasal decongestant showed up which got them banned.¬† The ITU sent a news release today about some new ingrediant found in nutritional supplements that is a cause for concern… check it out.

The ITU Anti-doping Team would like everyone to be aware of a press release that the Cyprus Anti-Doping Authority (CyADA) recently sent out.

Can I run a half marathon without training in the last few weeks?

I've never run a half marathon before, but I'm planning to do one in about 9 days. I had been following a pretty rigorous training plan, running about 20 or more miles per week. My longest run was 9 miles which I did in exactly an hour and a half (which was what Read the rest of this entry

Peak Centre Winter Racing Series 2009-10 – Final GC Results & Alpe D’Huez Results

The sixth annual Peak Centre Winter Racing Series has officially come to a close!  I hope you all enjoyed the series this year.  We had 115 people participate in the series between the locations in Ottawa, Montreal, Burlington and Vancouver with the majority racing right here in Vancouver.

We had some technical difficulties getting the results for the last couple of stages¬†up on the web but they are up now including the final GC results.¬† I apologize for the inconvenience and I will make sure this doesn’t happen again next year by having a local link for the results.¬† The¬†results can be found at:¬†

Vancouver was represented well in the series this year with strong performances coming in all categories.¬† We managed to take 3 of the top 5 places in¬†both the¬†overall Men’s A and Men’s B GC Standings and we took 1 of the top 5 places on the women’s side.¬† We were also very well represented in the Sprint and King of the Mountain categories.¬† Well done Vancouver!

Help with training for a marathon?

I am planning on running a marathon later on this year. Not only do I want to prepare for this but I want to lose weight. What are the best ways to go about this? Do any of you have marathon tips?

Swim, Bike, Run… Taxes…

So what’s a great “demotivator” for getting out and training? TAXES… agh…

Regardless, it’s a necessary evil we all have to deal with – just like we all have to train to swim, bike, run.¬† It’s April 25th or somewhere thereabouts and after yet another week of long days and “not enough sleep” nights, I’ve still manged to squeeze in some training over the last 7 days (and even got to the pool a couple times – INSANITY!)

Unfortunately the weather is rather crappy right now (torrential downpour) and the thought of going out for a 90min run in the rain isn’t so fun – so here I am writing a blog post as a means of procrastination. In any case, think I should get off my butt and head out there.

Hope you’re all having a great week and I’ll be catching up with ya’all soon.
